It all started with a passion... Agronomist engineer Álvaro Barreto Peixoto has been working in the sugar-energy sector since 1984 and has always been passionate about cachaça. In 2007, he purchased the Engenho Velho Farm, involved his entire family in this project, and began producing artisanal pot still cachaça.
Cachaça production begins with soil preparation and sugarcane planting, which is its raw material. The industrial process starts with the fresh juice of this sugarcane and is completed through the distillation of the fermented mash, resulting in the final product, which is stored in stainless steel and wooden barrels for aging.
Cachaça is a traditional Brazilian beverage of exclusive origin. At Engenho Velho, technology that ensures increasingly higher quality standards has always been incorporated into the production process, while preserving traditional artisanal techniques and respecting environmentally responsible practices.
Located in the Paranapanema Valley, in the city of Ourinhos/SP - Brazil, the property includes a Permanent Preservation Area (PPA), reforested and completely isolated from sugarcane cultivation by roads, creating an environmental balance for agricultural production and the preservation of the local fauna and flora.
Alma de Gato cachaça products are of high quality, guaranteed through a meticulous production process. They are distilled in copper stills, traditionally used in artisanal cachaça production to preserve the aromas and flavors characteristic of sugarcane. The alcohol content is 39%.
